I am not into art of blog writing but from last few weeks I somehow wanted to start writing blogs. So what I did as a first step was to see how to write a blog and for that reason I started searching tips to get my first blog out to the cyber world. After few days of focused searching on google and other search engines I devised my own blog writing tips, which I am going to share in this blog.
Strange but true my first blog is about “How to write your first blog”. Alot have been said and a lot have been discussed about the art of blog writing but what I am going to share is simple and straight. So here is my 5 points formula for your first blog.
1. WIIFM?
It’s a marketing jargon for What’s in it for me? Whenever you write something you either share some information, your opinion about something or your experience. A lot of websites providing tips on the blog writing emphasize on writing blogs for readers, I disagree. Write about whatever you want to write without any pressure. That is when you get your true feelings out. However, if you are writing a commercial blog then I would suggest you keep readers in mind.
2. Stay Focused
Always keep your posts short and focused. Obviously necessary details should be covered but do not go into too much detail. You may have a lot to say but people are reading online and out of time.
3. Be Honest
Most popular blogs are those which are written in an honest voice and truly expose who the writer is. Represent yourself and your content honestly and you will get a community of loyal readers which will undoubtedly grow with time.
4. You will write!
Always keep in mind that no one will be writing for you. You have to write it yourself, but what you can get from the web is option about the subject to write about. So, whenever you are searching for a subject or an idea, search about “Ideas for blogs” rather than “how to write a blog”. This seems obvious but a lot of people make this mistake like I did J!
5. Interact with readers
A blog should be a conversation. It obviously starts from your post but comments from others keep it live.To get comments or criticism on your blog try to end with a question.
Get the conversation stirred up a bit by posting questions and polls for your readers – this gets them deeply involved in the conversation that is your blog.
